Here’s a quick method you can start using right now:

Step 1: Define What Makes You A B.U.D. To Your Best Customers

  • Better: What advantages do your top customers have over others? Are they more responsive, more engaged, or have higher budgets?

  • Unique: What sets them apart? Are there specific industries or niches where they stand out?

  • Desirable: Why do you want more customers like them? Are they long-term clients, repeat buyers, or quick to convert?

Step 2: Use This ChatGPT Prompt to Create Your Lead Profiles

Copy the prompt I used in the training here or the sample prompt below.

“I’m looking to generate 15 ideal customer profiles for my business. Consider these criteria: Better (what makes these customers high-value or ideal), Unique (traits that make them stand out from the average customer), and Desirable (reasons I’d want to work with more like them). Please provide profiles highlighting these characteristics, including industry, role, company size, and relevant behaviors or traits.”

Step 3: Fine-Tune and Target

Work with ChatGPT to review and improve the profiles generated by adding data from your best customers.

Here are some key details you can include to make your lead profiles more precise:

  • Geography (e.g., customers within 20 miles of Washington, D.C.)

  • Company Size (number of employees)

  • Challenge Faced (e.g., compliance issues, lost sales, customer churn)

  • Trigger to Take Action (e.g., compliance requirements, need to recover lost sales)

  • Job Title of Buyer (e.g., Head of Sales, Purchasing Manager)

  • Industry (e.g., real estate companies, architecture firms with 3+ employees in business for over 10 years)

  • Revenue Range (e.g., $1M - $5M)

  • What They Bought From You (What product or service did you sell them)
