I remember staring at spreadsheets, asking, "What's this data telling me?"

Back as a consultant, I'd spend hours hunting insights.

My clients needed fast answers, but before I could give them answers or reports, I had to sift through spreadsheet data for hours, sometimes days before I could answer them.

Today, AI can analyze the data and give me insight.

You can build your AI Analyst inside Google Sheets or Excel with ChatGPT and an API key.

Now, I select the worksheet I want to analyze and get insights in a minute.

Last week, a client needed insights on their leads, and they did not want to go between ChatGPT and their spreadsheet for the analysis.

We built an AI Analyst inside the Sheet so she could get instant insights into her leads and conversion data.

The Data Analyst took under 5 minutes to build.

First, open Google Sheets and go to Apps Script.

Then open ChatGPT and ask it to create an AppScript code, paste the script and your OpenAI API key, and you're connected.

The hard part's done.

Here is a sample prompt:

“I want you to create a Google Apps Script that analyzes the data in a specific range of my Google Sheets spreadsheet and then returns key insights. The script should:

1. Use an AI or machine learning approach to review the data.

2. Summarize key trends or patterns (for example, total counts, averages, and outliers).

3. Provide an output of these insights in a new sheet or a dialog box.

4. Include clear instructions on how to run the script and adapt it for different data ranges.

5. Make sure to handle any errors in case the sheet name or range does not exist.

Please generate the complete script, including the functions I need to add to my Google Apps Script editor, and explain each step of the code.”

You can access your AI data analyst as a custom menu.
