Over the weekend, someone sent me a strategic prompt for a big opportunity they were working on.
The prompt was well-crafted. Great structure. Clear objectives.
But it was missing one key element: context.
This got me thinking about a concept I was introduced to not too long ago - JSON context prompts.
Here's what I realized: Even good prompts give you inconsistent results without proper context.
If you ask AI the same question twice, you get different answers. That's not helpful when you're trying to build reliable business processes.
The Problem with Most Prompts
Most of us write prompts like this:
"Help me write a sales email for my product."
AI gives you something generic. You try again. Different result. You spend more time editing than if you'd written it yourself.
The issue? AI doesn't know your industry, your customer, your voice, or your specific situation.
The Solution: Context Templates
JSON context prompts solve this by providing AI with the necessary background to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
Instead of guessing what you want, AI knows exactly what you need.
Don't Know How to Build JSON? Let AI Help
You can do what I did: create a Project in Claude or ChatGPT to build one for you.
Here's the exact instruction I used:
"Convert my strategic prompt into a JSON Context Profile. Help me structure all the context and requirements so I get consistent, high-quality responses every time."
No technical skills needed. AI builds the structure for you.
Apply THINK to Build Your Template
Here's how to use the THINK method:
T - Task: Pick one prompt you use regularly that gives inconsistent results
H - Hypothesis: Structure the context AI needs to understand your specific situation
I - Invest: Build your JSON template using AI assistance and test it
N - Network: Refine the template until you get consistent quality results
K - Knowledge: Use this successful template for similar tasks
Real Example: The Strategic Prompt Fix
That prompt I received over the weekend was asking for a strategic analysis.
The original prompt: "Analyze this market opportunity and give me recommendations."
What was missing: Industry context, decision criteria, stakeholder requirements, timeline, and success metrics.
After adding JSON context with those details, the output went from generic to actionable, specific to their situation.
Same AI. Same basic request.
However, with proper context, they achieved results they could utilize for their opportunity.
Your Next Step
Select one prompt that you use regularly, but which consistently yields inconsistent results.
Ask AI to help you build a JSON context template for it.
Test it. Refine it. Then use it every time you need that type of work done.
You'll get consistent, quality responses instead of rolling the dice every time you ask AI for help.
Try this method. You might be surprised at how much more reliable your AI interactions become.
