Before we dive into today's THINK tip, I want to share a resource from our sponsor, Morning Brew. They keep you informed on the latest business trends.
Quick, hard-hitting business news.
Morning Brew was built on a simple idea: business news doesn’t have to be boring.
Today, it’s the fastest-growing newsletter in the country with over 4.2 million readers—thanks to a format that makes staying informed both easy and enjoyable.
Each morning, Morning Brew delivers the day’s biggest stories—from Wall Street to Silicon Valley and beyond—in bite-sized reads packed with facts, not fluff, and just enough wit to keep things interesting.
Try the newsletter for free and see why busy professionals are ditching jargon-heavy, traditional business media for a smarter, faster way to stay in the loop.
The other day, someone who attended one of my speaking events emailed me and said I asked my team what you had asked us.
What one part of your work would, if you automated it today, enhance your workflow a year from now?
I want to ask you the same question.
She asked her team that same question, and they came back with a list of things they wanted to accomplish.
Here's how to go from a list to making progress.
Start with one thing and do it this month.
Why This Question Works
When you ask, "What one part of your work would you automate if you could today, to enhance your workflow a year from now?" you're doing three things:
Looking at daily work
Finding time wasters
Thinking long term
Her teams answered:
Operations: Weekly status reports
Sales: Lead data entry
Finance: Invoice reminders
Marketing: Social media posts
All are fixable with the tools they already use.
Your Strategic Prompt
Copy this into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini:
"I need help identifying one task to automate this month. My role is [your job title], and I spend a lot of time on [list 2-3 repetitive tasks]. Write a strategic prompt to analyze these tasks and pick the best one to automate first. Include questions about time spent, business value, and implementation difficulty."
Then, copy the response into a new conversation and answer it.
Want help with this? I am hosting a free SBDC webinar, "Go From AI-Curious to Cutting Hours of Manual Work with THINK," on July 14th. You can register at this link.
Make Your Answer Real
Once you pick your task, build a simple plan:
"If I automate [task] with [tool], I'll save [hours] weekly."
One person said: "If I automate status reports, I'll save 3 hours weekly."
That's 150 hours a year. From one task.
Your Move This Month
Use the strategic prompt
Pick one task
Start this week
Track the time saved
Don't overthink it. Pick one thing and take action.
